Client Overview

A customer of SDI’s since 1996, this customer is a leader in the beverage industry. SDI provides storeroom services for six storerooms at various plants on their campus facility. SDI currently manages all MRO supplies for this facility, including procurement, receiving, stocking, issuing, and inventory management.  We provide on-site storeroom coverage 24/ 7 and manage in excess of 66,000 SKUs.

SDI Performance Results — 2001 through 2003

  • Service level in the storerooms improved from 97.2% to 99.3%
  • On-time deliveries improved from 77% to 95%
  • 99% of all incidences of items lost or stolen at central receiving & docks were eliminated
  • Customer audit in 2002 showed an inventory accuracy of 99%+
  • Emergency & rush orders are delivered in a shorter time span than ever before
  • SDI performed 80% of the man-hours in helping to eliminate $5 million in non-moving inventory
    • Saving $1M in carrying costs
  • Developed staging areas for PM parts & point-of-use delivery of parts to the floors
  • Equipment and spare parts are now protected & maintained in all storerooms
  • Relocated an unmanned packaging storeroom to the main storeroom
    • Inventory accuracy improved from 68% to 99%
  • Relocated an unmanned remote storeroom to the main storeroom.
    • Inventory accuracy improved from 65% to 99%.
  • Established program to track repair warranties on $1.5 million in external repairs, resulting in $30,000 savings on free repairs for an 8-month period
  • Supported customer’s initiatives to include the following:
    • Key participation in Purchase-2-Pay process development
    • Key participation in development of asset management flow charts & processes
    • Training of customer employees by SDI employees on SAP 4.6
